These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the SaveBite mobile app and website (together, the "Service"), operated by the SaveBite team. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Eligibility & Accounts
You must be able to form a legally binding contract to use SaveBite. Sign-in is via a phone number and one-time password (OTP) — you are responsible for keeping your device and phone number secure, and for all activity that happens under your account.
2. What SaveBite Is — and Isn't
SaveBite is a platform that connects people who have surplus food ("donors") with people nearby who would like to collect it ("collectors"), whether shared for free or at a discounted price. SaveBite does not prepare, inspect, package, or deliver any food, and is not a party to any exchange of food or money between users. We provide the platform, discovery, order coordination, and pickup verification (order codes and OTPs) — nothing more.
3. Food Safety — Read This Carefully
Food shared through SaveBite is provided by individual users, not by SaveBite. You collect and consume food shared through the Service entirely at your own risk. Donors must only list food that is safe, accurately described (including known allergens), and not expired or spoiled. Collectors should use their own judgement about a listing's safety before accepting it. SaveBite does not inspect, test, or certify any food listed on the platform, and is not responsible for its quality, safety, or fitness for consumption.
4. Listings, Orders & Pickup
- Free listings can be collected directly by tapping "I Collected" at pickup.
- Discounted ("selling") listings are reserved with an order code and a one-time OTP, which the donor verifies at pickup to confirm the handoff. Orders that aren't picked up expire automatically and the item becomes available to others again.
- Donors may close a listing at any time, except while it has a pending order awaiting pickup.
- Any price shown is agreed and settled directly between the donor and collector — SaveBite does not process payments (see our Privacy Policy).
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Post false, misleading, or unsafe listings, or misrepresent food quantity, condition, or price.
- Harass, threaten, or abuse other users, including through ratings, reports, or pickup messages.
- Attempt to collect, order, or verify pickup on your own listing.
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose, or to circumvent any safety or verification feature.
- Interfere with the normal operation of the Service, including through automated access.
Violating these Terms or our Community Guidelines may result in a warning, listing removal, or suspension or termination of your account.
6. Ratings & Community Reports
After a pickup, users may rate each other on quality, hygiene, and reliability, and may report listings or users that violate these Terms. Reports are reviewed and may lead to enforcement action at our discretion.
7. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, SaveBite and its team are not liable for any illness, injury, loss, or damage arising from food shared or collected through the Service, or from interactions between users. Your use of the Service is at your own risk.
8. Termination
You may stop using SaveBite and request account deletion at any time. We may suspend or terminate access to the Service, at our discretion, for conduct that violates these Terms or otherwise harms other users or the Service.
9. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
